Reverse playback: questions & tips
Does reverse affect the exported file or just the preview?
It changes the frame order in the exported animation too. Speed stays the same, and each frame retains its original hold time.
How is ping-pong different from reverse?
Reverse plays only backward. Ping-pong plays forward, then backward, without repeating either endpoint twice in a row. It creates a longer animation when there are more than two frames.
Which format should I choose?
- WebM
- Video with transparency for players and browsers that support it. Enable looping in your player.
- GIF
- Widely compatible and loops automatically; usually larger files.
- MP4
- Widely supported video. Transparent areas become black; looping is a player setting.
- APNG
- Full color with smooth transparency; often a larger file.
